pontificate

Was walking down the mall in front of the library when two girls earnestly came up to me and asked me to join a bible study group. They seemed to be friendly and forthcoming. I just gave them a thumbs down look. Immediately came their response - Are you a Hindu? Dont you want to experience the beauty of the bible? We are students too. Open up.

I was almost glad that they asked these questions. I was ready to launch into a dialogue about the futility of claiming a system of thought as gospel truth. About how, and for what purpose religions were conceived and how they are being interpreted now. About how, being an atheist or an agnostic in the popular sense does not signify moral decadence. About how each person must arrive at his/her own 'religion' and not become dogmatic about it and etc etc.

But then i realised, these girls were just trying to 'help' others what they sincerely believed in. Why should i be their 'debaser'? I instead just smiled at them, wished them all the best and was back on my way.

Really cool on your part to not discourage them from doing what they are. But if you see it from a different angle, you will realise that it would not be worth discussing such matters with them.

@Vib- they were obly hot man! Our man never mentioned anything about them which necessarily facilitates that kinda thinking :P:P

Secondly, I never said that I dismiss their opinions or treat them with contempt or maybe even condemn their thoughts, its just a matter of not hurting anyone's sentiments. They believe in what they say and so let them stay the way they want to because if anything is said against them, they might take it to heart when you dont actually mean it. Whats the point in raping someone you dont know :P
